Can you envision yourself in an international environment? And if you have a strong passion for and expertise in Procurement, you might be NLMK DanSteel’s new Technical Category Lead in the Procurement team.

In the role, you will report to the Head of Procurement, and you will work out of Frederiksværk.

The Job

In the role, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation of strategies developed by local categories within the required timeframe and according to the business' specifications. Your key focus will be on managing day-to-day interactions with suppliers, securing the most competitive advantages for external purchases and services, and striving for the lowest total cost of ownership while meeting defined sustainability standards. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop category strategies for categories managed at country/plant level.
  • Lead the RFI/RFP processes, negotiations with suppliers, and supplier selection.
  • Ensure timely renewal of supplier contracts and obtain them through a process that guarantees the best commercial conditions for the company.
  • Manage Supplier Master records in compliance with qualification requirements and process automation.
  • Execute the Global/European category strategy in the country/plant under this role’s responsibility.
  • Manage supplier performance evaluation and monitor implementation and contract compliance.
  • Be supportive of Procurement improvement ideas, including going back to basics, listening to and supporting users, and strengthening team spirit through the European network.
  • Collaborate within a matrix Procurement team across Europe.

There will be an opportunity to engage internally with site users and externally develop a strong collaboration and partnerships with key suppliers. In the Procurement team as such, you will participate in improving Purchasing KPIs, including delivery compliance, contract coverage, cost reduction, stock reduction, late invoices, E-catalog coverage, etc.

The Profile

The right candidate should possess an educational background as a mechanical engineer or marine engineer, with a strong understanding of commercial aspects, practical knowledge, the ability to read technical drawings, and preferably have a capacity in repairing minor machinery. We expect you to have a minimum of 5 years’ working experience and with specific experience from heavy industry, steel, automotive, or other related fields. Proficiency in Excel, including the ability to create pivot tables, is crucial, as well as experience with SAP and analytical skills.

Furthermore, you should have expertise in category management and strong commercial skills. Good people skills and effective communication abilities are essential, as you will need to collaborate effectively with others. Some of your key skills are hopefully:

  • Strategic thinking to create innovative approaches in procurement.
  • Ability to act in a matrix, effectively collaborating with various stakeholders.
  • Exhibit exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Possess strong planning and project management abilities.
  • Superior negotiation skills.
